I recently refurnished my house & let me tell you, it was messy. Particularly the plumbing. I do not care what anybody says - it is supposed to be easy work & simple, but it simply isn't half as easy as it's supposed to be. When we installed it with American-standard faucets & American standard toilets, we were bothered by all sorts of problems. The American-standard taps did not seem to fit the piping we had at first, & we were continually beset by leaks that threatened to ruin the floor. The American standard toilets would not set on the floor correctly, & so we had to use the bathroom sitting sideways for a whole week, and cling to the shower curtains for support. I'll tell you, trying to install our American-standard faucets & American-standard toilets gave us an American standard mess.

It was not truly about the American standard taps and American-standard toilets, but more about the layout of the pipes. They were aged pipes, & we even suspected there may be lead solder in them, which is a scary thought. The brand-new pipes were of a different size which was more properly callibrated to the American standard taps and American-standard toilets, but they would not correctly fit in the holes drilled for the old pipes. So we had the issue of the American standard taps, toilet, tub, and other fittings not fitting right with the plumbing which, it doesn't matter how hard we tried to jury rig it, triggered leaks. Our fabric shower curtains were sitting in dampness on the floor.

Of course, even without the difficulties with the American standard taps, we would have really had lots of difficulty. American-standard faucet or not, you really cannot do any-thing about the hard water if you reside in a country community like ours without installing pricey and difficult to operate, water softener system. Before we did that, our shower curtains were crunchy and stiff as if we'd starched them. & American standard taps, and American-standard toilets and tubs do nothing for you if your water-pressure is abyssmal, which trust me, ours is. So what should have taken nothing more than a week or possibly 2 ended up taking us months and months & while we struggled to install our American standard taps, the bills kept piling up. Installing our American standard plumbing was a night-mare, & ended up costing us much more than it would have to merely hire some-one to do it. Next time, if God forbid there's a next time, we are hiring someone to fix our American-standard faucets & plumbing.
